Business’, much like our country, face a wide range of threats and potential hazards ranging from fire, chemicals spills, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, to active shooter situations. During 2020, COVID-19 did more than just cause businesses to shutter and people to spend the last year wearing masks and working from their homes.

According to various studies from across the country, conducted by organizations such as – the American Medical Association, the Center for Disease Control and the American Addiction Centers, found that during the COVID-19 lockdowns, there were dramatic increases in the incident rate of:

  • Drinking in the workplace (especially in home offices)
  • Drug use…especially opioids
  • Domestic abuse or violence
  • Stress levels
  • Calls to suicide hotlines and suicide rates

Now that COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions are being lifted, business leaders must be keenly aware that whatever is happening in a person’s homes or home office can follow them back to their workplace. Putting your customers, employees, and business at potential risk.

This value-added workshop will provide techniques on preparing your team members to respond to emergency incidents in the workplace. The Emergency Evacuation Planning Micro-workshop will provide an overview of the OSHA standards (i.e. 29 CFR 1910.38 – Emergency Action Plans), related to evacuation plans and procedure, as well as some ways businesses can prepare for and equip their employees to address and respond to emergency situations. The workshop will also expose attendees to information that identifies resources for developing an Emergency Action Plan and training employees to respond appropriately in various situations, including active shooter situations. This information will increase employee awareness, workplace safety and bring value to the organization.
